In the morning we all went to the Taupo markets (and a motor show which just happened to be on next door). There was a lunch-time storm which sent us scuttling home, but it soon cleared up again. While Ariane and family went off to Rotorua to get a Maori tattoo, Mum and I wandered around the Craters of the Moon, which is a thermal area that appeared in 1950 after they opened a geothermal power station a couple of kilometres away.
