Wednesday – Rotorua

Amazingly, we were capable of walking this morning, though Bruce was suffering badly because he had spent a lot of time running up very steep mountain paths. As Peter and Kerrie were heading off towards the South Island the next day, we decided we had better get in some thermal and Maori activity.

The Wai-O-Tapu “Thermal Wonderland” was OK, but Te Puia Maori Arts and Crafts was well worth it. The latter seemed to take a liking to the fact that we were a big family group; they discounted our entrance fee *very* heavily without us asking! Te Puia also had a small thermal area, but it had real mud pools and a real geyser (and a train thing so we didn’t have to walk too and from the thermal area – great for our aching legs).
