After all the travel (and some people getting lost when leaving Hamilton on the drive from Auckland to Taupo on the Sunday), we decided on a relaxing day before the big walk tomorrow. The Huka Falls are just outside Taupo. After wandering around the lookout and Falls in glorious sunshine, we drove around to the Huka Falls River Cruise. The jet boat looked good, but was very expensive; we went at a more leisurely pace, but I still managed to get wet when the skipper did a (relatively) fast turn near the Falls.
The cruise finished just in time for us to see them open the dam, bringing the Aratiatia Rapids to life.
